How to Wake Up Early If You’re Just Not A Morning Person

Very few things in life are as peaceful as early mornings. The air is cool, the sun is rising with all it’s beautiful colors, and the birds are just beginning to chirp. The worries of yesterday have faded away and the opportunities of today are on the horizon. I’ve always thought that mornings were the best time to think and create.

No matter how beautiful the early hours of the day are, not all of us are born with the natural ability to wakeup at 5am and immediately jump out of bed to soak up all the magic. We’d rather hit the snooze button until our responsibilities come creeping in and demand our attention.

If you’ve been trying to wake up a bit earlier but have been struggling to get up and get moving, here’s some tips that might help!

Set Yourself Up The Night Before

Set out your clothes, make your breakfast, pack your bag, and tidy up the night before. This way, when you wakeup, you don’t have to use precious mental energy to do tedious tasks and you can enjoy your morning, peacefully. I find that if I go to bed with a clean place and have already set myself up for success the following day, I wakeup in a much better mood.

Make a Really Good Breakfast

There are so many reasons why breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we’ve been told time and time again. Eating a healthy and wholesome breakfast will provide you with energy and mental clarity. Not only that, if you make a breakfast that you’re actually excited to eat, you’re much more likely to want to get up in the morning. I mean, simply put, who doesn’t love food.

Do Something You Love In The Morning

Do you love to play the guitar? Draw? Dance? Why not do these things first thing in the morning? You’ll be getting that creative energy flowing and also doing something you love, which will make the rest of the mundane things you do during the day seem more fun, since you’ve already started with something you’re passionate about and enjoy.

Go Outside

Soak in all that peaceful morning air and spend some time outside. This could mean going for a walk, taking some time to read outside, or just sitting outside with your dogs and a cup of coffee. If you live in a place where it gets cold in the wintertime, going outside first thing in the morning is probably not the most exciting thought, but you can still open a window and let the sunlight in!

Read A Motivational Book

Motivational books provide tools for becoming your best self and get you inspired to take action, which is exactly the type of push we sometimes need to get moving in the morning. We are all a combination of everything we consume on a daily basis; books, movies, and information from the internet. If you focus on reading positive books, especially when you wakeup, you’re setting your attention to positive messages for the rest of the day.

Workout First Thing

I’ve said it before, but working out first thing in the morning is the best way to start the day because it gets your blood flowing. It also feels like an accomplishment to know that it’s now out of the way and you don’t have to worry about procrastinating, because lets be honest, exercising is one of those things we all know we need to do, but sometimes hate doing.
